King Herod the Great
Did you know there was more than one King Herod?
In total, six rulers bore the name Herod—each related, each ruling over different parts of the ancient world between 74 BCE and 93 CE, sometimes simultaneously. The most famous, Herod the Great, is remembered for his monumental architectural feats, including the grand expansion of Jerusalem’s Second Temple. But beyond bricks and stone, Herod amassed one of history’s most legendary fortunes—over 50 tons of gold, silver, and priceless artifacts.
But here's the mystery:
What happened to Herod’s treasure? Much of this immense wealth vanished into the annals of history, its fate still unknown.
Did the Romans seize it and transport it to vaults beneath the Vatican? Was it hidden deep within Herod’s desert fortress at Herodium—or spirited away to Masada for safekeeping? Could the Crusaders have stumbled upon it during their bloody conquests? Was it recovered centuries later by Nazi treasure hunters obsessed with biblical relics and arcane power?
Or… might it still lie buried beneath the ancient streets of Jerusalem, waiting to be found?
Join archaeologist Asher Meyer as he embarks on a daring journey to uncover the truth behind one of history’s greatest unsolved mysteries—the lost treasure of Herod the Great. As ancient secrets surface and unseen enemies close in, Asher must decide how far he’s willing to go to reveal what’s truly More Valuable Than Gold.
