The creators of Some Called them Baby Killers...We Call them HEROES is going beyond their powerful documentary to further heal the lasting effects of combat with the release of Dr. Mitchell Young's dynamic video. Dr. Young is a Behavior Medicine and Addictive Disorders licensed psychotherapist who has counseled Vietnam veterans for over fifteen years. More importantly, he is a Vietnam combat veteran. Following his years in the Marine Corps, he battled (and continues to battle) the same emotional scars he is trained to detect and ultimately help.
The journey to healing and understanding for all suffering from Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is undoubtedly tough. Dr. Young can attest to this. He tackles a great deal of difficult subjects from night terrors, chronic isolation, and even emotional numbness. He also discusses complex PTSD and secondary PTSD, the most common from of PTSD he has seen in Vietnam veterans and their families. Currently, he is an Associate Professor of Counseling at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
